ELCOM renovates a sports hall in Karlshamn – MAX luminaires with surge protection and DALI2

ELCOM has renovated a sports hall in Karlshamn with energy efficiency, functionality and environmental responsibility as governing requirements. The choice was TritonLED MAX – a luminaire with a low environmental footprint, in line with TritonLED's environmental policy.

To handle an unstable power grid, ELCOM installed surge protection in close cooperation with TritonLED and the supplier Megacon. It clamps high and fluctuating voltage spikes before they reach the luminaire drivers and other sensitive electronics. LED drivers are especially exposed, as they rely on semiconductor components with limited transient tolerance.

The luminaires are controlled via DALI2 and B2L Bluetooth, providing both addressable wired control and wireless configuration. In this installation they run dimmed by around 25 percent. ELCOM added emergency luminaires mounted at height. The entire installation uses a single brand and a consistent design, with no mixed luminaires.

LED Luminaires for Parking Garages – From 5-Year Replacement Cycle to a Long-Term Solution

The parking garage at Kv. MARS has been upgraded with Triton SROW Gen. 3 LED luminaires. The previous LED fixtures failed after only five years. The new installation delivers better light output, lower energy consumption, and is ready for smart control via DALI-2.

The Installation Challenge

  • Maintain or increase the light level (200–350 lux) without relocating existing luminaire positions.
  • Reduce energy consumption by approximately 10 % compared to the previous fixtures.
  • Cover different lighting needs in driveways, parking bays, and connecting zones – using as few luminaire variants as possible.

The Solution: One LED Platform, Two Optics

All luminaires share the same platform – SROW Gen. 3 – making installation and future servicing predictable for the electrician.

Triton SROW Gen. 3 – DALI-2, 5000 K, CRI 82, screw-terminal entry (IP54, IK08):

  • S17 – 1.7 m, 34–40 W (replaces 75 W fluorescent), 145° optics
  • S12 – 1.2 m, 30 W (replaces 50 W fluorescent), 90° optics

The Right LED Optics for Each Zone

Wide 145° optics are used in parking bays and connecting zones, while narrower 90° optics run along the main driveways. The result: even, functional light throughout the garage.

High Luminous Efficacy – Low Energy Consumption

SROW delivers 174–193 lm/W at a chassis temperature of 56–64 °C – among the best figures on the market. Low heat output is also an advantage in ventilated garage environments, where cooling is more energy-intensive than heating.

DALI-2 – Smart Lighting Control, Now and Later

With DALI-2 drivers, the customer can create lighting scenes, dim by zone, and later add motion or presence sensors – without replacing the luminaires.

Circular Design – Swap Parts, Keep the Chassis

Around 80 % of the components can be replaced on site, and the chassis itself is reusable. This extends service life, reduces the electrician's service workload, and lowers environmental impact compared to disposable luminaires.

Results After Installation

  • Light level: 250–400 lux throughout the garage
  • Energy consumption under control
  • Lighting is currently time-scheduled – DALI-2 allows expansion at any time
  • Luminaires are ready for upcoming environmental requirements (ESPR, Ecodesign)

Saab Motionshall, Trollhättan – 67% energy reduction, 175% more light!

Saab Motionshall, Trollhättan – 67% energy reduction, 175% more light!

Body

In Trollhättan, Granitor Electro AB Trestad Energy has modernized the lighting in the old Saab Motionshall in collaboration with TritonLED. The hall is used for a wide range of activities and ball sports.

The existing fluorescent luminaires — 60% 2×58 W and 40% 2×36 W, 160 units in total — have been replaced with 50 OPTI 158W, 2-meter linear luminaires producing approximately 25,300 lumens each, equipped with WAGO connectors and DALI-2 control. Four XL sensors have also been strategically positioned and adapted to entrances and exits for optimal lighting control. The entire installation is wired with WAGO quick connectors, and the lighting is protected by our surge protection devices.

The upgrade has resulted in an impressive 67% energy reduction. At the same time, the light level has improved from approximately 400 lux to 1,100 lux — providing significantly better lighting conditions, a 175% increase, and very good uniformity.

For players, athletes, and spectators, this creates a completely different experience:

• Balls and players are easier to see, even at high speeds
• Fewer shadows and less glare
• Better contrast and depth perception
• Safer and fairer conditions for everyone

Fast installation and smart lighting control with the MAX series

Fast installation and smart lighting control with the MAX series

Body

When AEL needed a modern lighting solution, the requirements were clear: high light quality and minimal time on site.

The solution

The MAX series industrial luminaires with DALI-2 drivers deliver full flexibility – scenes, daylight control and time scheduling are programmed easily without rewiring. The system is prepared for future expansion with integrated Bluetooth (B2L), sensors and wireless programming via app.

To keep installation time short, the luminaires were delivered with WAGO push-wire connectors at both ends and pre-made cable lengths. Plug-and-play from the first screw – minimal tools, minimal hassle, minimal wiring errors.

The result

✔ Significantly shorter installation time than traditional methods
✔ High operational reliability and excellent light comfort
✔ Easy to relocate and reprogram – no lock-in
✔ Future-proof and energy-optimised
