LED Luminaires for Parking Garages – From 5-Year Replacement Cycle to a Long-Term Solution

The parking garage at Kv. MARS has been upgraded with Triton SROW Gen. 3 LED luminaires. The previous LED fixtures failed after only five years. The new installation delivers better light output, lower energy consumption, and is ready for smart control via DALI-2.

The Installation Challenge

  • Maintain or increase the light level (200–350 lux) without relocating existing luminaire positions.
  • Reduce energy consumption by approximately 10 % compared to the previous fixtures.
  • Cover different lighting needs in driveways, parking bays, and connecting zones – using as few luminaire variants as possible.

The Solution: One LED Platform, Two Optics

All luminaires share the same platform – SROW Gen. 3 – making installation and future servicing predictable for the electrician.

Triton SROW Gen. 3 – DALI-2, 5000 K, CRI 82, screw-terminal entry (IP54, IK08):

  • S17 – 1.7 m, 34–40 W (replaces 75 W fluorescent), 145° optics
  • S12 – 1.2 m, 30 W (replaces 50 W fluorescent), 90° optics

The Right LED Optics for Each Zone

Wide 145° optics are used in parking bays and connecting zones, while narrower 90° optics run along the main driveways. The result: even, functional light throughout the garage.

High Luminous Efficacy – Low Energy Consumption

SROW delivers 174–193 lm/W at a chassis temperature of 56–64 °C – among the best figures on the market. Low heat output is also an advantage in ventilated garage environments, where cooling is more energy-intensive than heating.

DALI-2 – Smart Lighting Control, Now and Later

With DALI-2 drivers, the customer can create lighting scenes, dim by zone, and later add motion or presence sensors – without replacing the luminaires.

Circular Design – Swap Parts, Keep the Chassis

Around 80 % of the components can be replaced on site, and the chassis itself is reusable. This extends service life, reduces the electrician's service workload, and lowers environmental impact compared to disposable luminaires.

Results After Installation

  • Light level: 250–400 lux throughout the garage
  • Energy consumption under control
  • Lighting is currently time-scheduled – DALI-2 allows expansion at any time
  • Luminaires are ready for upcoming environmental requirements (ESPR, Ecodesign)

Saab Motionshall, Trollhättan – 67% energy reduction, 175% more light!

Saab Motionshall, Trollhättan – 67% energy reduction, 175% more light!

Body

In Trollhättan, Granitor Electro AB Trestad Energy has modernized the lighting in the old Saab Motionshall in collaboration with TritonLED. The hall is used for a wide range of activities and ball sports.

The existing fluorescent luminaires — 60% 2×58 W and 40% 2×36 W, 160 units in total — have been replaced with 50 OPTI 158W, 2-meter linear luminaires producing approximately 25,300 lumens each, equipped with WAGO connectors and DALI-2 control. Four XL sensors have also been strategically positioned and adapted to entrances and exits for optimal lighting control. The entire installation is wired with WAGO quick connectors, and the lighting is protected by our surge protection devices.

The upgrade has resulted in an impressive 67% energy reduction. At the same time, the light level has improved from approximately 400 lux to 1,100 lux — providing significantly better lighting conditions, a 175% increase, and very good uniformity.

For players, athletes, and spectators, this creates a completely different experience:

• Balls and players are easier to see, even at high speeds
• Fewer shadows and less glare
• Better contrast and depth perception
• Safer and fairer conditions for everyone

Fortiva: Perfect Illumination

Fortiva: Perfect Illumination

Body

In collaboration with the experienced installation company Granitor, we delivered a precision-engineered lighting solution for their client Fortiva. The project demanded a system that not only met exact lighting specifications, but was also robust enough to handle the specific requirements of the facility.

The Challenge

The project presented two distinct requirements. First, the lighting system needed to deliver a precise, pre-calculated light level — a prerequisite for optimal performance and safety in Fortiva's daily operations. Second, the nature of the facility required the fixtures to meet specific protection ratings to guarantee long-term operational reliability.

The Technical Solution

To meet these requirements, we implemented a solution based on our high-performance TM fixtures, controlled via the DALI-2 protocol. DALI-2 enabled detailed, individual control of each fixture, ensuring that the final lighting result precisely matched the pre-installation calculations developed for the project.

Each fixture was delivered with a robust cable gland (CG), providing a certified IP43 protection rating — tailored to the environmental demands of Fortiva's facility.

Products Used

  • Triton MAX TM Series
  • DALI-2 driver
  • Cable gland (CG): IP43 certified

Result

By combining DALI-2 technology with our versatile TritonLED TM fixtures, we delivered a lighting system that is highly energy-efficient, intelligent, adaptable and future-proof — meeting Fortiva's requirements for both precision and operational reliability.

Smart zone lighting for an ice rink with TritonMAX

Smart zone lighting for an ice rink with TritonMAX

Body

In collaboration with Granitor, we delivered a sophisticated lighting solution for an ice rink in Trollhättan. The requirements were multiple: training lighting over the ice controlled by several sensors covering the entire surface, emergency lighting over the ice, separate control of the spectator walkways around the rink grouped by side, and surge protection.

The Solution Six lines of MAX-series linear luminaires were interconnected via a B2L mesh network and divided into two lighting zones over the ice. Sensor modules were mounted on the cables above the ice and in three groupings outside it. The motion control is intelligent: movement in the walkways activates only the grouped luminaires, while movement on the ice immediately brings the entire hall to 100% — approximately 700 lux with a uniformity of ~0.70. Energy reduction is 60% compared to the previous lighting system.

TritonMAX emergency luminaires switch automatically to emergency mode during power failures. XP10 surge protection on each line safeguards the system against grid instabilities and power spikes.

The Result

  • 700 lux over the ice with excellent uniformity
  • Intelligent zone control — the right light in the right place
  • Built-in emergency lighting without additional fixtures
  • Surge protection on every line
  • Energy-efficient, adaptable and future-proof
